Is This Responsible for Your Poor Health?
When you’re trying to be healthy, there are definitely a range of different things that you could and should be doing. You’ll know that you should be eating right, and you’ll know that you need to be exercising, but is that all that you need to do? Definitely not. And sometimes, it’s hard to even know what ‘eating right’ really refers to. You may even find that changing your diet makes you feel worse.
Instead, it’s always better to know that what you’re doing is for the best. It’s so easy to read something online, and then to start bringing the tips and suggestions into your life, without really knowing if they are right for you. When, instead, what you really need to be doing is breaking down how you’re feeling, what your goals are, and then going from there. Because your health really is personal.
So, what is the best way to go about it? What can you do to make sure that your health is heading in the right direction. Well, instead of just guessing what to do, or just following general rules and hoping that they work out for you, instead you need to really break down the issues with your health and then work on putting them right. For a lot of people, the issues can even be stuff that they never thought really impacted on their physical or mental health at all! So, if you’re really ready to take your health to where it should be, here’s what you can do.
Work or Life Stresses
The very first thing that could really be affecting your health is stress. And this is going to be one of the most common factors that harm many people’s health. When you’re overworked, or you’re in a difficult situation in life, it not only causes damage to your mind and your thoughts, but it can show in your body. Weight loss or gain, skin issues, or even headaches can come from this. So if you think you’re stressed right now, it’s time to do something about it.
Taking that last point a step further, you may even find yourself worrying about money. And while this is still a form of stress, it can be a much more intense form. When you’re worried about paying bills or where money is going to come from, it can make you feel as if you’re always on edge. It can also take the impact of stress to a whole new level. So if you are worrying, you need to really work on taking action and fast – not just for your finances, but for your health too.
Next, there’s sleep. Because a lot of people just aren’t getting the sleep that they really need. And this isn’t just about the amount of sleep in hours, but the quality of sleep too. Sleep deprivation can affect your energy, what you eat, and your happiness. So it’s time to prioritize good sleep for the sake for your mind and body.
There’s also dehydration too. You may not think that you’re dehydrated, but unless you’re drinking enough water each day, you probably are. This can affect your hunger levels, how you sleep, your skin, and your energy levels too. So it’s time to drink at least two liters of water each day and see what that can do for you.
Or maybe it’s your weight that is affecting your health. While size should never be the issue, if you are overweight or underweight, then you could be harming your health. Here, lap band surgery or a nutritionist appointment could help you to get your body weight to a healthier level. This could then help your health more holistically.
Not Enough Exercise
If you’re not exercising enough, then you have a problem. Because you really do need to be using your body and moving it more if you want to feel good. This could be going for a walk or doing a mini workout at home to get you started. But you need to work exercise into your routine if you want your health to be where it needs to be.
Maybe what you’re eating just isn’t helping your health either? Here, you need to make sure that you understand evidence-based nutrition so that you can eat the best things for your body. Think about fueling your body as much as possible with nutrients, and not just eating what you feel like it.
Or maybe it’s down to the relationships that you have in your life? Because sometimes, when you have toxic relationships, whether it’s with family, friends, or romantically, it can take such a negative toll on your mental health. Which can then hold you back in life. So maybe it’s time to walk away for the sake of your health?
Poor Lifestyle Choices
Then, the are other bad choices that you make that affect your lifestyle. You know that junk food is bad for you, but if you’re eating too much of it, it will make you feel like junk too. It’s the same with drugs and alcohol. While alcohol can be great in moderation, especially red wine, it’s the moderation part that is key. If you really want to feel healthy, you have to make sure that you’re making better lifestyle choices.
And lastly, as much as you may not want to hear this, you may also be the cause of your poor health. It can be so easy to lead yourself down the wrong path. And no, we’re not just talking about the poor lifestyle choices that you may be making that then go on to affect your physical health. Worse than that, are your mental habits. If you ever beat yourself down, compare yourself to others, or put yourself down, it can really affect your mental health. So it’s time to be kind to yourself. When you can love yourself and have more confidence, it will help you to boost your mental health.
What do you think? Do you need to pay a little more attention to some of these?
