Creative Tactics to Meet New People and Find Love
Just as the title of the UK band Radiohead’s documentary states, “Meeting people is easy.” Their right too, because it’s really not so difficult to find someone to share your life with. It can even be fun. Read on to find out more.
Follow Your Creative Side
The first way to meet people is to get creative–literally! Yep, that’s right, embrace a creative hobby like photography, drawing, art journaling, or even quilt making, and sign up for a class. Then you are bound to find like-minded individuals that share similar interests as you.
Of course, the bonus here is that even if you don’t find the One, you will learn a new skill, and expand your social circle, so it really is a no lose option!
Ditch Online Dating
Sick of all the hype around online dating? Fed up of signing up for a profile and struggling to make any genuine connections or meet up with people in real life? Well, it’s quite a common phenomena. In fact, it seems like there are a quite a few people that used online dating sites as a way of boosting their low self-esteem and don’t honestly have any intention of getting together with anyone at all.
Happily, there are a few somewhat-similar tactics you can try such as singles groups, speed dating, and even dating lines, which allow you to hear a recorded message from a potential suitor. You’ll be pleased to know that many such services cater to all type of sexual and gender orientations, and offer coverage all over the country as well.
Adopt a Pet
Many people who are struggling with loneliness and depression, in particular, find adopting or rescuing a pet can make a massive difference to their lives. However, you may just get more than you bargained for if you so choose to get a canine friend. Dogs present as a fantastic icebreaker and can break that initial barrier of discomfort when meeting and talking with new people. Walk your dog around the neighborhood or take him to a local dog park to meet others who love their fur babies.
Of course, there is no guarantee that you’ll meet the love of your life or new best friend along your walk, but you never know! The worst that can happen is that you get a loyal and faithful pet and learn to be a bit more confident in public.
Surrender
Lastly, sometimes we can be looking for the special someone a little too hard, and may be coming on too strong. You might be giving off a bit of a desperate vibe, which is most definitely NOT the message you want to be sending.
To that end, it can be incredibly useful to simply surrender to being single for a bit. Allow yourself to enjoy life just as it is. Keep this in mind: if you have not first learned to love and respect yourself, you may not be fully prepared to be in a relationship just yet.
