There’s no brighter view than a genuine smile on a happy face. Here are some great reasons to show off those pearly whites in joy.

  1. Relieves Stress

They say there’s no better cure than smiling and laughter. It’s not just a saying, though, there’s some actual science to back it up.

Smiling tells your brain that there’s something worth smiling about, even when you do it on purpose. This means you can cause a small release of stress-relieving hormones just by flashing those pearly whites.

  1. Spread the Love

Smiles can really lighten up a room. When you spend time with people who wear their heart on their sleeve, it becomes especially apparent. It’s hard not to crack a smile when you’re around them, right?

This phenomenon cuts both ways, as well. When you smile, people around you can’t help but follow in your stead.

  1. Lower Blood Pressure

Smiling lowers your blood pressure by a measurable amount. The exact mechanism of this isn’t clear, but it’s likely connected to the fact that you also relax when you’re smiling.

However, this doesn’t mean you should replace your blood pressure medication with a wide-toothed grin.

If the sight alone weren’t worth the trouble of smiling, you should take into consideration the many other reasons why smiling is such a wonderful thing. #happiness #smile #positivity

  1. Exude Confidence

There’s nothing more powerful than a confident smile. When you have an honest smile on your face, you can be sure that people will want to spend time around you and talk to you.

It’s a beautiful cycle – you smile and people want to hang around you, which leads to even more smiling.

  1. Think Positive

Try smiling on purpose. Now try continuously thinking about something that bothers you. It’s not exactly easy, is it? Smiling can keep you from thinking about negative things, which will make your day go a lot better.

This doesn’t mean you’ll forget about those things, but they won’t occupy your mind more than they should.

  1. Inspire Trust

Smiles are considered a universal sign of trustworthiness. As long as you show some genuine happiness when you smile, people are more likely to see you as a trustworthy person.

This can come in handy in a lot of professional and social situations. If you want to make connections, smiling is a good start.

  1. Get a Workout

The muscles on your face are quite complex and properly conveying emotions takes a lot of coordination. You need to make use of at least twenty-seven muscles to smile, which makes this simple act quite a workout.

You won’t lose any calories by cracking a grin, but it’s definitely something to think about when you’re showing off your smile.

  1. Increase Productivity

A positive thought every once in a while has an enormous effect on productivity. When you’re feeling down, even something as simple as a smile can make you feel on top of your game, if only for a moment.

If you ever find yourself procrastinating, try to smile and think up some positive scenarios and you’ll be back to work in no time.

  1. Improve Your Self-Image

A lot of people are self-conscious regarding parts of their body, and smiling is no different. Whether or not your smile is naturally gorgeous or not doesn’t matter. It’s how you look at it that matters.

You can’t let your teeth dictate whether or not you show your beautiful smile. If it’s something that affects how you present yourself, you should consider visiting a dental clinic such as Church St Dental in order to have a smile that you would gladly show the world.

  1. Rejuvenate Yourself

Smiling doesn’t just make you feel like a kid again; it also makes you look younger! The muscles surrounding your mouth and eyes lift the skin and make it look a lot tighter.

This is why older people look decades younger when they smile often.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, smiling might be worth ten thousand. Words aren’t its only worth, either. With all of these reasons for smiling being so beneficial, it’s hard to argue against cracking a smile as often as you can.
